Boot Cuff LOVE

I’ve been busy for the past few weeks working on orders for the holidays. Mostly I’ve been concentrating on dishcloth bundles, cowls, and my current favorite: boot cuff’s. Each pair makes me smile and I hope each recipient is as thrilled to get them as I am to make them! My sister got a pair (early) for her birthday (Happy Birthday sis!) and was gracious enough to model them for photo sharing.

She called a few days later and started rattling off colors I could make them in (for her, of course).

These are for a co-workers 13-year-old daughter as a Christmas gift:

I never thought about sport team themed boot cuff’s, but I was asked to make a Seahawks pair and a Huskies (University of Washington) pair. I struggled with the Huskies pair having gone to the rival Washington State University; GO COUGS!! I figured its a business, but I don’t think I’ll make more of them as to not offend my alma mater.

I hope to one day make some boot cuff’s for myself, but first comes the boots!!

Crochet Cowls

Here are some of the crochet cowls I’ve made so far for holiday gifts. Recently, I wore one of my first made infinity scarves and realized I’ve come a long way in my almost year of being a hooker. My first one is too chunky, large, and awkward.

The pattern for this one came from here. As typically occurs, my version is not 100% like the pattern (sometimes an accident and less often a conscious change). I crochet tight so I began adding the pattern listed as Rows 8-16, but omitted two of the rows of double crochet.

I love this one and will have a hard time parting with it. The pattern came from this site. Again, I crochet tight even when trying my best at working loosely. My version is not loose when hung single, which helps because it looks good solo as well as doubled. For both of these scarves, I used Bernat Roving yarn.

Here is my first…it looks better in photo than on person!

Autumn Decor

I love fall and all that comes with it: crisp air, pumpkin EVERYTHING, sweaters, boots, the colors, chai and butter rum, apple desserts, scarves, Thanksgiving, wood burning fires, cozy blankets, and football. Really, this list could go on and on!!

This year I began decorating as soon as I witnessed the first leaf turn its beautiful autumn colors. My goal was to make the Thanksgiving decor better than last year; being a second year host I felt compelled to outdo my previous work. Unfortunately, I’ve been bumped for a larger, less decorated house. Oh well! I’ve contemplated having a sort of “Friendsgiving” to share the decor, but in case that falls through…

Missing from this pic is a beautiful large ‘Give Thanks’ burlap bunting banner a great friend made. I’m keeping it for next year to go with the unmade burlap table runner we will have!

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Autumn Crochet Dishcloths

It’s been awhile since I’ve had time to post, but I’m keeping rather busy these days (also read as: learning how to fall camp with my new cricket trailer!). A few things in the works: autumn/fall decor, crochet boot cuffs, and a puff stitch scarf.

For now, here is a (poor) photo of my most recent dishcloth order.

Beanie Binge

I’m working through my list of craft to-do’s fairly quickly these days (unfortunately due to an unexpected work absence). I still owe my husband pillow covers, but before I could get to them I got sidetracked (craft ADD!) with making beanies and scarves. With fall upon us I find it hard not to make cozy things.

This was the one I made for myself with some yarn I found months ago at hobby lobby.

This is the same hat with a bobble stitch bow (not really attached).

Then, I made my niece one as promised. They are not exactly the same, but similar. I love how they turned out! Apparently my sisters did too because I got text requests for beanies for them. Jen (Adelyn’s mother) wants a matching beanie. Ana (my youngest sis) wants an Adelyn white beanie with grey trim and a pure black one for her husband.

At this rate, my husband wonders if he will ever get new pillow covers!

New “Detroit blue” Scarf

This is a gift for my mother just in time for Fall. As with most everything I make, I wish I could keep it!

Next up: a baby beanie for my niece. Only 5 months and already telling me via text that she needs things! Of course, it was a cute pic of her smiling face with a caption my sister wrote saying “Aunt Mindy, it’s getting cold and I need a beanie for my baby head.”
